Questions owners ask before the first groom
These are the answers we give most often. If yours is not here, email or text us. We are not always free to take calls, so writing is the quickest way to reach Marie’s.

Getting set up
Email mariespetgrooming@gmail.com with your full name, your dog’s name, breed, approximate weight and your cell number. Add the New Client Registration form, which is required, plus the Matted Release form or the Senior Release form if either applies to your dog, and your dog’s vaccination records. Ask us by email or text for the forms.
Current clients can, through our Square booking site at maries-pet-grooming.square.site. It is for current clients only, and new-client requests sent there are declined. If you have not been to Marie’s before, start with an email or a text instead.
Yes. We take text messages and pictures at (718) 380-7387. We customize your dog’s hairstyle to your preferences, so a photo of the look you have in mind is a good way to start the conversation.
There are four ways onto the table: the Spa Bath Package (a bath without a haircut), the Full Groom Package (bath and haircut), the VIP Package, which we call The Works, and Single Services such as a nail trim or an ear clean. The full list of what each one includes is on the grooming page.
Yes. Marie’s is a grooming salon and a retail store, so you can pick up shampoos, leashes, harnesses, sweaters and other accessories in the shop when you drop off or collect your dog.
On the grooming table
Tell us when you write in. Safety and comfort come first for your dog and for our groomers. A handling fee of at least $25 applies to pets that need extra time and attention because of behavior such as aggression or excessive movement, and it is decided case by case. We also have the right to refuse service on certain pets.
Let us know before the appointment. De-matting and matted pet shave-downs are extra, and additional fees may apply depending on the coat. If mats are likely, we will ask you to sign the Matted Release form so everyone understands what the groomer may need to do for your dog’s comfort.
Yes, and we ask for a Senior Release form for pets 8 years and older. Safety and comfort come first, and the form lets us talk through your dog’s age and health before the day. Add it to your new client email, or ask us for a copy.
Please give us at least 12 hours notice to cancel or reschedule. If the day you want is full, join the waitlist on the booking site, or text (718) 380-7387 with the day and time you hope for.
You can ask. Tommy is our head groomer, with Marie’s since 2019, and he specializes in artistic poodle and schnauzer cuts. Mention your request when you book and we will do our best, though we cannot promise a specific groomer for every appointment.
More detail lives on the grooming page, the pricing and fees page and the booking page.
