Fresh Meadows, Queens, since 2010
Marie started in her own home. The dogs now come to Union Turnpike.
Marie’s Pet Grooming began as a one-person team in her own home. Marie is an animal lover and a pet owner herself, and the people who know her describe her as creative, sensitive, and intuitive. Those traits are what a groomer needs when a nervous dog climbs onto the table.
The work grew by word of mouth into multiple groomers in a shop in Fresh Meadows, Queens, and the salon has been serving local pet families since 2010. The groomers on the team are licensed and certified pet grooming professionals, and the shop is a member of the National Dog Groomers Association of America.

How the team works
Four rules the salon keeps
The haircut is the owner’s call
Every dog gets the hairstyle its owner asks for. We take direction, then we customize the cut around the coat in front of us.
Safety and comfort come first
A groom only counts if the dog is safe and settled while it happens. That rule sits above the schedule.
Your pets are our pets
That is how the team puts it, and it is how the shop treats the dogs who come through the door on Union Turnpike.
Straight advice on coat and skin
Ask how to keep the coat healthy between visits. We will tell you, and we recommend products we personally use.
Head groomer since 2019
Tommy
Tommy has been with Marie’s since 2019 and is the head groomer. He is skilled with all breeds, and he specializes in artistic poodle and schnauzer cuts.
Away from the table he is a dedicated father of two young boys. He appreciates art, and his hobby is drawing, which is the same eye he brings to a scissored face or a clean schnauzer outline.
Clients ask for him by name. One longtime owner says Tommy has cut their shih tzu’s hair since the dog was six months old.
The store inside the salon
Grooming on one side, a small shop on the other
The salon doubles as a retail store. The shelves carry leashes, harnesses, sweaters, shampoos and accessories, so a dog can leave with a clean coat and something new to wear on the walk home.
